Aldi, the award-winning discount food retailer, is bringing forward proposals to redevelop land at the former Frankie and Benny’s, Farnborough Way, Orpington.

Aldi has long wanted to expand the offer of its amazing value and choice to the residents of Farnborough Village and the surrounding area, and with Frankie and Benny’s now permanently closed, this site provides the ample opportunity to do so.

The scheme would provide a bespoke Aldi food store which has been carefully designed to respect the surrounding area, improving customer choice, and reducing travel times.

Since plans were presented to Bromley’s Development Control Committee in March 2022, the project team has worked hard to develop a revised scheme, making changes to previous proposals based on feedback received throughout the planning process, including increased landscaping and biodiversity net gain, whilst providing a smaller and more respectfully designed store.

Aldi was pleased to have received significant support from many in the local community who saw the benefits that a conveniently located store, such as this, would offer. Aldi is committed to bringing its high-quality, low-cost offering to the residents of Farnborough Village and the surrounding area. To this end, Aldi has submitted a new application that will provide significant benefit to the local area. This includes delivering investment to the local economy, the provision of much needed local jobs and a truly affordable retail offering during a cost-of-living crisis.
